Summary: 2009 EX-L, 60k miles. Tailgate won’t open from exterior and power open/close does not work. How to troubleshoot?
Details: My power tailgate malfunctioned 18 months ago. I’ve been using the interior override latch to open it, but it’s been mostly just been closed for months at a time. I discovered and replaced 2 blown fuses (one of them power tailgate), and now pressing any of the open/close buttons results in a beep-beep-beep, no gate movement. Tailgate warning light on dash is lit. Cannot open the tailgate using the exterior handle. I have double checked the fuses and manually fully opened and closed the tailgate.
I’m guessing the safety sensor is tripped, thus disabling the tailgate. Is there a way to override it to test? Any other troubleshooting ideas? The power function isn’t essential, but I’d like to open the tailgate from the exterior. Thanks!
