I just saw a unit that Costco recently started selling and thought it looked like a pretty good package deal. The price was $699.00.

I believe it's an Audiovox. Here it is:

1)a 6.4 inch flip down lcd (960x234) with the glass up (protected when closed) and an "auto-off" when closed. Wireless IR remote and wireless stereo headphone transmitter.

2)hi-fi stereo VCP

3)TV tuner with antenna

4)fm modulator

5)two wireless headphones

I haven't purchased it so I have no first hand experience. Just passing it along.

Are you sure it's an Audiovox? I have seen the SteelHorse there but not the Audiovox. If it's the 6.4 by Audiovox it is a refurbished screen from the Casino's in Japan. They won't tell it's refurbished but it is. Big write up about it in my Trade Magazine. I sell a lot of Mobile Video and $699.00 is cheaper than I pay for a 6.8 package! The current package they have is the MVP-400D by Audiovox. It includes the VOH-682A and Hi-Fi Stereo VCP, 2 headphones, Fm modulator and Ant. Also the universal trim ring. Audiovox is very nice and the 3 year warranty is great if you end up needing it. They don't send your unit in for repair, they give you new product. I will go to Cotsco today down here in South Florida and check it out. If it's for real my only suggestion is to have it professionally installed. It's a universal system for Honda and I recommend paying a pro. The Honda ODY is the easiest vehicle I work on and takes me only an hour to install. To your answer from a guy who does these things everyday, it's a good price if it's the 6.8, but not the 6.4.

Thanks nedlyj... good find.

Now DanDan... what's the word? And when do you visit the West Coast to do some installations on the side?

Darell,

Send me a round trip plane ticket and I will install it for free! No jobs on the side since I have owned my own business for 18 years now. I checked the links above and I don't see an Audiovox system. Just the Power Acoustic system, which is too much money for a very small 5.6 screen. I can buy those systems cheap! I sell the Fahrenheit version in the 6.8 and it's actually very nice, but only 1 year warranty. I got my hands on the Audiovox 8" system which includes the tuner, headphones, antenna, and two headphones for under $800.00. I installed them in some Yukons and I still like the 6.8 the best. The 8" is a bigger screen but for the money it was a hot deal. I usually pay almost $900 just for the the 8" screen alone. Now just remember thats what I pay at wholesale and no I don't sell over the net. I monitor this page and can offer support but my business is usually directly to the car dealer. I just like to keep people informed. The one product that has come way down in price is the DVD's. Just ask and I will tell what there down to now. Suggestion, is to stay away from Cotsco, because if you have a warranty issue they will direct you to the manufacturer and you will have to pay someone to diagnose it and also to R&R it. And it cost money and time. Buy it from me and I will exchange it for free during the three years. Sometimes it's easier to pay a few bucks up front for the piece of mind!

I am interested in a DVD system. What should I look to pay for a good quality system. Is there a big difference between 6.4 and 6.8? What brands / retailers would you recommend.

Judging by the installation prices I'm seeing locally, it may very well be worth sending you tickets

So, what would your recommended bang-for-the-buck system with DVD cost? email me if you'd like: [email protected]

Thanks,
- Darell
