So which is it? Do we pronounce ODY, O-Dee as in the dog from Garfield
OR do we pronounce it Ah-Dee as in Odyssey??

Any help with this burning question would be appreciated!!

Maugham, since you appear to be the pack leader for this scout troup, any thoughts?

I dunno. I'm still hung up on using "<font color=red>RP</font>" and not "RRP" for <font color=red>Redrock Pearl</font>!

Websters shows the pronunciation of "odyssey" as:

<font size=+4><center>'ä-d&-sE</font></center>

which would make the first syllable sound more like "awed" than "owed." From that I get ah-dee instead of oh-dee.

It is definitly Ah-dee.

I got so used to being being an "Ah-dee" club memeber that when I took the van into the dealer for an oil change I went into the showroom to look at the new Hondas and told a bothersome salesman that I was just here for my Ody oil change. He looked at me quizically and asked why I brought an Audi to a Honda dealer...

Here's a question. What's the plural word of Ody?

Ody's
Odys'
Odees
Odies
Ody Ody Ody Ody Ody Ox and Free

-Nestor

</font>
IMHO,

Ody = One Odyssey

Odys = Plural of Ody

Ody's = Possesive singular

Odys' = Possessive plural

Oh-dee here. Ah-dee is more correct, because it's this same as the first two syllables as "Odyssey".

I've created a monster.

When you're crusin' in da slickist van in da country you ain't "ODD" so must be an ooodddee, long O - not an "odd"ity. know/knew - it is present not past,'cept when you're in a different van then you've been passed by a PINODY. That's me waving out of the sunroof, see ya!

I posed this question months ago and there was no clear consensus. I have lost many nights sleep pondering this question and it still torments me!

Maugham is correct on the grammer issue though.
To me, Ody pronounced ah-dee makes it too much like Oddee (slang for one who is odd, like Hottie is slang for someone who is HOT!)
But then again, oh-dee makes it sound like O.D. (as in overdose, overdrive etc.)

AAAAGGGHHH !!!!!

Now we got ourselves a straight up tie, 3 - 3.

Maybe we should ask is it AH-Dee club or Oh-Dee Club!!

Sorry, ODY, the world may never know . . .

Ahh-dee.

Just like the "ahh crap!" that you utter when you find out that there is no negotiation from MSRP.

When referring to the OdyClub, I say OH-Dee.

Maybe we should let Jim decide? He owns this place and he could settle this once and for all!
