Did I read correctly? Under Lows (I take that to mean cons) they said, "(Relatively) underpowered" they also say, "...No one expects a minivan to be fun to drive. Some day maybe Porsche or BMW will come out with a minivan that can rocket from 0 to 60 in under 8 seconds--but it's doubtful. After all, who wants to accelerate that fast when the passengers in the back are eating ice cream cones?
However, that's not to say that the Odyssey lacks muscle entirely. Its new 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 240 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque--more than fast enough to get the kids to school in the morning and making it the most powerful minivan on the market." They say underpowered and they also say the most powerful minivan. Their review is a little confusing when it comes to power.
Let's face it: Forbes is not a car magazine! It is a great source for financial news and analysis, but they have no clue regarding vehicles actually serving a purpose. The review is full of contradictions and useless blather about SUV vs minivan. How about the small gas tank? I go Spartanburg - Charleston regularly (round trip abt. 415 miles) on one tank of gas! The Ody is a wonderful cruiser and hauler with plenty of power.
To have fun on the twisties I get into my 330CiC; now that's a kick in the butt! However, for going distances in First Class comfort nothing beats the Ody.
I liked the review.
While the reviewer did make a couple of mistakes, what he is not an Odyssey nut like us, he did a very nice review saying in the end that this is the best of the mini vans.
I emailed him back and told him he should change the reference to HP...whY? well, someone going there for a opinion on the van will be swayed by the fact it has "lack of power" on the LOWS.....that would be a drawback to some, but in reality in the van market it's the fastest, most powerful van you can buy! Honda should sue him
he did ask if the editor could contact me...I told him about my Ody and what i'm doing, and they want to do a story on it
When he says "(relatively) underpowered", a rational human being might suspect he means relative to other minivans (or even trucks). Who would guess he means "relative to anything with four wheels and an internal combustion engine".

he is comparing the power of the Odyssey to the likes of:
1. BMW M series
2. Bentley Continental
3. Cadillac EXT!
what a loon! I told him nicely to compare apples to apples
Also let him know that production is not meeting demand and that most new buyers are still seein glong lead times. I know you are a speed enthusiast but since you have his ear you might as well through in this one too!
