OEM deflector installation tips?

There is no need to drill the deflector,or trim the plastic posts as suggested in Honda Odyssey FAQ in Tech section of this site. The post holes match perfectly with the deflector if they are aligned properly. Make sure to clean the hood real good with alcohol before attach the posts. Anyway, the deflector is position way too low to be effective in preventing windshield from bug splash or stone chips. I removed mine after few month's use.

You mean these things will protect the windshield? I've not seen any of them that looked like they would provide any significant protection for the windshield. The main reason I'm considering one is the fact that after about two years, my previous car had "many" chips in the paint on the hood from the usual rocks and rubble that gets churned up on the road. Almost all of them were on the first two to three inches of the hood and I think the deflector would do well to protect that part of the car.

Any thought?
