I just came back from my local honda dealer. Bought my '01 SS Ex 3 months ago and the dealer then scheduled my 1st oil change for no charge. They laughed and sent me home when I got there and told them I only had 750 miles on it. They said something about a special "additive" to the original oil, that needed to stay in for the 1st 3500 miles, regardless of the length of time. Has anyone heard of this?? I always thought you should change the oil after the 1st 1000 miles to remove and metal shavings that may have occurred. Just curious......thks

4simp,
Go to the Maintenace section of this site. Look for a post entitled " First Oil Change Milege". The last post in that thread was on 4-27 so you'll need to look back. It's 2 pages long. I'm sure you'll find your answers there.

If you have "metal shavings" in any new engine, you have big problems and probably won't make it to the first oil change without engine failure.
