Painful Static Shocks by Ody

My wife & I have been getting static shocks everytime we get out of our Ody. This happens when we get out of the van & close the doors. As soon as we touch the doors to close them, we get this painful static shock. Would someone please help tip us a way to get rid of these shocks?

Shaners might be correct!!

Out 1998 Taurus did the same thing, and my friend compains that the same happens in his wifes 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix.

I just tray to touch some metal WHILE I get out of the car (door, body, etc), not AFTER I get out.
