Happy Holidays everyone-

I own a 2002 Ody EX with 113k miles. 2nd owner since 2004 when I bought it with 33k miles. I am trying to adjust the parking brake as it does not seem to hold on a grade. The Haynes shop manual says for rear disc brakes, I should only hear 4-6 clicks. I can hear 7-8 clicks. I tried adjusting the nut on the pedal clockwise as instructed but there is no resistance or difference. My question is, do I indeed need to raise the rear wheels off the ground in order to adjust the parking brake? I thought I could adjust the parking brake with the rear wheels down. thanks for the help and HAppy New Year to all.

You'll need to jack the rear-end, remove both rear wheels and adjust at the brake chamber. There's a rubber plug on the rear brake rotor that allows access to the adjuster mechanism on the drum. Remove the plug andusing a small flat screwdriver push down on the adjusting ring to tighten up the shoe. When properly adjusted, their should be a slight amount of drag on the drum by the shoe.
