So how do you like it? Picture quality? Brightness during bright sun? How about the motorization? Smooth? Fast? Headphone emitter works well? Any complaints or high praise? Any ergonomic/function issues?

I'm very happy with the whole system, though
I've only had it for two days. The picture
looks great, though I'm still figuring out
the mode settings. Mode 1 and 2 distort the
aspect ratio, Mode 3 (zoom) doesn't look
real good (some pixilization), Mode 4 looks
great but I would think that a widescreen
DVD would fill the width, and it doesn't.
I need to spend some more time playing with
it, and see if there is a setting on the
player that I need to change.
Bright sun is in short supply right now in the
Pacific NW, so no experience with that.
The motor works smoothly, and is faster than
I expected. The swivel is almost too fast,
it is easy to overshoot where you want to be.
The IR audio sounds fine, but my kids really
don't like the headphones. I'm glad I paid
the extra to get the RF adapter, the sales guy
tried to talk me out of it, saying most people
who put it in say it was a waste of money.
If I did it all over again, I would probably
get the Audiovox DVD-3200 or the Alpine unit.
I went with the 3100 (over the 3200) because
the specs said it was 3 mm thinner, and I
wanted to mount it under the stereo. But the
face of the 3100 wouldn't work well there, and
I decide to add the changer anyway. The 3200
would have saved me a few $$, and been a
closer match for the factory units. (The
Alpine would have looks good, too, but costs
a lot more!).
So I'm happy with the hardware, and very happy
with how clean the install was. It isn't the
cheapest solution out there, but I don't
regret the extra expense.
