I was kicking around CarToys trying to find an AVC-RGB1 unit to do the Navi Hack ad I came across this

Pioneer AVM-P8000

http://www.cartoys.com/product.asp?productid=1363&CategoryID=0&BrandID=0&ProductTypeID =0

What caught my eye is the following:
- AV Inputs & Outputs
- RGB Output for Front Display or Optional TV Tuner
- Video Source Output (RCA-type, NTSC/PAL Video & Audio) for Rear Display
- Video Source Input (RCA-type, NTSC/PAL Video & L+R Audio) for Add-on

I am thinking that this is the same RGB output as the AVC-RGB1 which may be why it is discontinued. I am not real happy with the $800 price tag but it seems to be another one stop solution like the E5000 with a lot more features. Could someone confirm that this may be a viable option? Thanks!

Greg

Steve (Videonavi-the originator of this mod) talked about this very idea in another thread, using the Pioneer GEX-P7000TV. Check this out....

RGB in and Out, dual source switching, independent front rear video out, etc....

I have a couple people who have used the Pioneer GEX-P7000TV for this mod. The catch is to make the on-screen text (channel numbers, input labels and setup screens) work on the navi display you must also connect a Pioneer AVD-W6000 or AVD-W6010 monitor for your rear display. This actually works out pretty good, because the GEX has a rear video output and can display a different video image on the rear display than what is on the navi. The AVD-W6000 also has a ceiling mount kit available.
