The driver-side power slide door on my '01 quit working all of a sudden. Just decided to quit one morning. So I brought it to a dealer who looked into it and said that the motor is defective (What, on a 3K miles, 3 month-old van, I asked?). But that's ok, because my dealer will replace a new motor right? A VERY BIG NO! The slide door motor is on NATIONAL BACK ORDER and not even Honda USA factory has one. I was told that there are many dealers in the US who are on waiting list for this part. Even worse, the dealer told me that it could take upward of 6 weeks or more to get this part from Honda Factory and he also showed me a service order for a Prelude's owner who has been waiting for a catalytic converter for 7 weeks now. This suggests to me that Honda has a major problem with producing critical replacement parts and not only for the Oddy, but for other Hondas as well. This got me really really mad. Has anyone try opening the power slide door manually? You have to give it a very healthy push in order to open it, in short it's not easy for my wife to do. Now I have to drive the van with one inoperable sliding door. Out of frustration, I called Honda USA myself and was told that there's not much they can do. Ridiculous if you ask me.

One of my power doors stopped working only 6 days after I bought the van. Luckily I was able to reset the door after I turned the door-power switch off and on again. Honda does have a quality problem with the power doors.

I just posted a similar problem with my door see: "Power Door - problem/fix". The fix worked. Only difference is mine was the passenger door.

I haven't had the need to perform the fix that the dealer did, myself. But my guess is I'll be in the fuse box before the recall is in effect.
BTW - 8000 miles 2001

Last night, I try to check the door again hoping it magically fixed itself. Guess what, the motor came alive again. However, the door will not be able to open by itself and it needed my assistance to push start for it to work. Once it's "popped" out of the latch, it was able to slide by itself. I called my service advisor again telling him what I discovered. He said he knows but it'll die again, because they did reset the relay and ran some kind of diagnostics on the motor and found that it's defective. He told me that this is an INTERMITTENT problem and it'll be on and off at different times. Intermittent problem leave a bad taste in my mouth. Now, I probably expect the passenger door to die sometimes in the future too. If it decides to die, I hope it dies within my warranty period. As far as I'm concern, Honda's quality control has become really bad.
