Good guess. But still, I'd open things up to confirm before buying the part. From experience with my BMW, there may be a simpler smaller component that has failed. For the BMW, the prime suspect is the little plastic clip that interfaces between the regulator and the glass.

Or it could be the motor. Or something came loose.

The fact that you hear something in there does suggest that the electrical components are working.

The plastic that holds the metal ball has probably broken, happens often on most regulators. I would open it and verify though like oldskewel said. $100 is relatively cheap for that regulator from Honda. They were much more when I replaced mine and I actually paid about that for an aftermarket regulator. Make sure your windows are clean and use a couple of suction cups to hold the glass up while working. Good way to lose and a finger or hand if your not careful.
