Hi all. I have a ‘22 Elite and came across an issue recently when the batteries on the wireless headphones died and we switched to playing the RES movie audio via the vehicle speakers. My kids in the 3rd row were complaining they couldn’t hear the voice/dialogue so I had to really crank up the sound which was far too loud for front and middle occupants. It seems when the RES is on, the 3rd row speakers located on the rear pillars only play ambient/background sounds while all the voice/dialogue is played only through the speaker located on the roof next to the RES monitor.

After fiddling with all of the settings (fader, audio zones, dts neural, switching audio options within the movie menu, blu-ray vs regular dvd) nothing worked. However when switching to Bluetooth audio the 3rd row speakers play the music perfectly fine. I haven’t had a chance to test out the HDMI audio source as yet.

Does anyone else experience this issue and is their a solution in the settings to get the movie dialogue to play in those 3rd row speakers? Or are 3rd row occupants expected to only use the headphones?

A fellow Ody owner in the Facebook group suggested to switch the dvd playback to stereo which did the trick! I had to find a really old DVD (Home Alone) that gave me the option to select Stereo as an audio playback format. This allowed the dialogue to be heard through the 3rd row speakers. I guess all the new DVDs/BluRays are all in Dolby Digital surround sound and don’t even have an option for stereo.

Once you changed the playback to stereo then will the setting stay if you play from a Blu-ray after that? Or is it only for that one disk which had the option?
