Turn off the DVD player. If the player is powered it turns off the rear speakers. If the DVD is off (powered off) then the speakers stay on.

Glad I could help! I struggle with that for a while when I first got the van.

Two other tips:
1. The only way to watch / listen to a movie in back and listen to something up front is by using the headphones. Dealer told us you can split the sound via the speakers but that's simply not true.
2. If you are watching a movie with the speakers, then turning the fader all the way back (that last click makes all the difference) will drastically improve the sound for the movie, at least on the Elite.

I know this is an old thread but I am having this issue too. But when I push the “rear power” button under the DVD insert location it doesn’t turn off. Is there another way?

 

You don't say what year your Ody is. Different years have different features. But the settings should be in your Owner's Manual which you can download. Sometimes there's a separate manual for the audio system.

I’m having the same problem but when I push the power button nothing happens.
