Hi all,

I have a 2015 Odysset EX-L with around 6K miles. Today after locking the car I do see a red light blinking from the instrument panel. Haven't seen that before. I checked the Honda manual for what it is, but was not able to find any information regarding it.

Based on some forum, I checked the doors and windows and they are closed well. Below is the one I am talking about. Pardon the image quality, as its dark out there.

Here is the red circle light that I am talking about.

Thank you!!
I never noticed this before. I was at the impression that this is some alert/warning that started all of a sudden.
I do not agree with all these answers. The security on indicator light is a very small red light near the radio. The light everyone is talking about on the dash near the middle is an indication of a problem with the security system. Mine showed up after I replaced the battery. I had never seen it before. It appears after I lock the doors with the key fob and activate the alarm system. My alarm keeps going off randomly now. Anybody else? Thanks.

Welcome to Odyclub! :)

Straight from the 2015 owner's manual - page 79
153863

And then from page 135:
153864

And page 136:
153865

That light in the instrument panel is definitely a "system on" indicator. Now, why your alarm keeps going off randomly is a different issue. Let's try to figure that one out, because that would be annoying as hell.

That particular blinking red light is the radio anti-theft light. It warns a theft that the radio requires a special security code for it to work, so don't bother stealing it.

Hi Videojc
I am having the same problem with my odyssey 2016 touring
The alarm started going off a month ago, I changed the battery but did bot help
My electrician said it can be the hood lock sensor so he detached it and the alarm did not sound anymore, but the dashboard started flickering, I replaced the hood latch today with a honda part and attached the sensor again and the alarm went off an hour after...
i am going for electrical diagnosis in 2 days at Honda
Did you fix your problem

In case you weren't aware, the person you are asking came in a year ago, made one post, and hasn't been back since.

I just fixed my same issue. I noticed when the hood is up the alarm works and the red light wasn’t on. So I unplugged the wire going into the hood latch and the problem was solved. Now it’s just a regular latch with no sensor and everything works perfectly not even Honda could figure that out. Saved me $500 on a part they recommended part # 38329tk8a01

the red light wasn’t on.
The red light tells you the system is fully armed. Unplugging the hood latch is the backwards way to solve this...

The light on the dash is not a problem indicator. Even the owner's manual states that this light will show up when the alarm is armed and no other time.

My issue was the alarm going off every time the vehicle is locked. Honda wanted me to remove the horn/brake light fuse every time I park to stop the problem until the part they wanna replace comes in. Detachment of the hood sensor fixed this problem so I don’t have to remove any fuses and my alarm works perfectly

I realize that, I understand what you are saying entirely. The hood latch is a common point for alarms. Disconnecting it allows one to test if it is that switch that is the problem (if the problem goes away, the hood latch switch is bad), and even if it doesn't solve the problem, you can jump the pins on the connector for it to disable the alarm entirely.
