Red & silver '02s seen at dealership

I had my 2 week old '01 in for warranty service today (grrr, dealers suck! - it's another story) and I saw 2 '02s on the lot that had just come in over the weekend, a silver and a red. I looked closely at the red - nice color. It is a loaded EX leather and entertainment system. The entertainment system looks very cool - the stereo appears able to provide separate sources for front and rear passengers. I only got to see it for a few minutes when the sales manager came over and drove it into the service shop. It seems that someone royally screwed the pooch taking it off the truck and partially tore the front bumper cover off!
The sales manager was a mite bit miffed about this.

Other thoughs: the leather (grey on this Ody) seems about mid-quality. Not Connoley (sp?) hides, not cheap crap either. The interior leather at least was manufactured 7/25/01 according to the bags on the headrests - I don't know when the remainder of the van was done.

For those thinking of adding the rear cargo hold shopping bag hooks, forgetaboutit. They're integrated into the rear of the lower seat cushion - looks like the whole seat will need to be replaced to add those.

Still a fixed mast antenna.

The amber tail lights look nice, but odd because I'm so used to seeing the all-red band.

That is exciting news! I keep waiting for my dealer to call with good news, shouldn't be much longer now. Oh boy, oh boy...

Hey Scott. It doesn't sound like the quality of the leather is similar to the Acura interiors, but would you say it's at least comparable to the leather in the Accords?

That's a shame about the bumper on the '02. I think that kind of stuff happens a lot. Makes you wonder if they'll diclose it to the owner or just scramble to fix it before it's delivered. It will likely already have a paint match problem off the lot. A good reason to check over your new ody thoroughly when taking delivery. Thanks for the report.

3odys4me - AFAIK, most states allow dealers to repair cars damaged in transit, on the lot, etc before they are sold without disclosure to the purchaser unless a certain $ threshold is met.

Yeah, that's the case for NY. There shouldn't be a paint problem because it looked like a simple matter of a couple of fasteners were pulled off, but you never can tell.
