I like seeing a DIYer with some brains. Thanks for the post.
Check the wiring diagrams on newer 2g Odys... I have a 2003 and my lights turn off when I leave the door open after about 5 min. Also I have changed to all LED interior lights to save power and it is MUCH brighter.Very cool and well thought out. I've been thinking of a circuit to shut off the interior lights after a predetermined time if a door is left open. I have one to try but my circuit knowledge isn't what it was 20 years ago. Of course when I go outside and find the van battery is dead I get to thinking I need to build one quicker.
Yeah? I've read posts of people complaining about the same issue in much newer Odys. Maybe someone added something to yours?Check the wiring diagrams on newer 2g Odys... Also in 2002, the Ody had an interior lights timeout feature if a door was left open. IIRC batteries were drained because someone left a reading light switched on. The timeout would not turn off the light in this case. So it would run until the battery was dead.Very cool and well thought out. I know this is an old thread and there are other threads on this subject. But this is the one I found in my search that I want to reply to.Also in 2002, the Ody had an interior lights timeout feature if a door was left open. One solution is to always turn the master interior light switch to off after a drive. Also, switch to LED lights as mentioned by wreckedGT. They run cooler and consume 1/10 the power, so the battery may still be alive when you return to the van.
