2003 and the original compressor squealed it’s displeasure and wants out of our relationship.
I know I’ve got to “store” my refrigerant correct? Where? Pep boys, any A/C company even home or buisness? I just return and they recharge back what I gave them? Expected price for this service?

It looks straight forward. 4 bolts to frame. 2 screws/bolts on both pressure lines, I heard be gentle, they may bind or break. I also heard there is a plate that covers/protects these too.
Last the electrical connector. Am I missing anything?

I’m wanting to find a local shop that specializes in rebuilt auto compressors. I’m in Fort Lauderdale so I think they exist. I’m thinking of warranty down the road. Not against the local parts store though.
Important was to MAKE SURE the compressor oil is topped off where it’s specs say it should be. New gaskets on lines of course. Then install is reverse of removal. Missing anything?

Now go back and retrieve my R134? Cross my fingers I leave there feeling a cold breeze through my flowing golden locks of hair?

it WAS blowing 41 degrees before going tits up. It only happened 3 weeks ago and I’ve made sure never to engage it while unhappy.

I welcome any advice.
Is replacing anything now worth the effort and cost to just do now as opposed to a “I told you so” breakdown on a July afternoon?

Don't know what you mean by "squealed". Noise could be an indication of internal damage that could have spread shrapnel into the system, requiring flushing/replacement of other parts.

If you can find a local shop to recover and replace the refrigerant, that would be optimum. Many see that as the equivalent of someone standing at the ocean shore and peeing into a bottle to bring home to pour in the toilet.

The only compressor I would consider using is a new Denso, around $250 from Rock. But that's me...I put a premium on reliability and no "rework".

AC work is not something to begin DIY casually. When I started, I spend time over a couple months reading manuals, "how to" books, and hanging out on an AC repair forum with a lot of pros participating. My sense from your questions is that you should spend more time learning, find a knowledgeable/experienced friend, or leave it to a pro. Good luck.

So the Honda forum we both are on is not a good place to ask for advice?
Makes total sense!
Some people learn quicker than you.
Your advice finishes off making an assumption about my knowledge, experience or intelligence without even knowing me. Don’t degrade a person seeking knowledge man. Yes, your words were degrading. Everybody is different.
Anyone have any useful info?

I'm sure that someone here has the capability to sit and spend hours and hours writing a book about MVAC repair, with all the cautions, possibilities and what to look for. Whether anyone has the inclination to do so? Not I.
