I have a 2018 Elite with 19000 miles (we live and play in a small radius from home and are on an island.)
The sensors sleep when the vehicle is not in motion (woken up by centrifugal force when the wheel spins) so mileage is just as important as age.
Have battery life checked every 1-2 years, wireless AUTEL TS508 (I own one because I had to reprogram tpms sensors each time I switched summer-winter tires on a Toyota) or alike scanner can tell you if it’s OK or Low in couple seconds by holding the scanner next to the tire any time of the year.
Interesting, do you know if the OE sensors transmit battery status? If so maybe it is available in the TPMS PID on the CANbus network. I know tire temperature is.

I logged a couple of frames of TPMS CANbus data on my to work today.

The only data I really see are the pressures and temps.

Nothing that could be voltage. It is possible that some of those zeros flip to something else for a low sensor battery warning, but if that data was available on the bus I'm sure Honda would just show a warning on the screen (like for the low FOB battery). I guess it could also be in a different PID but I doubt it.

Sorry @Lartymarf, your thread went off on a tangent.
