RES inputs not working

Hi all - first time poster but glad to find this site. We have a 2012 odyssey with the RES (dvd via dash) and the input RCA in the rear seat. I have done lots of searching to connect an iPhone to stream to the ceiling screen (rca cables to an hdmi to a lightning jack). It kind of works and this is where I need help. The screen from the phone will mirror and the audio will work after pressing the “rear source” button on my dash. And then the audio goes out after about 30 seconds. Video often continues, sometimes doesn’t. But the “rear source” button light goes off and you need to keep pressing it.

I’m trying to get Netflix/Disney plus on the screen for longer family drives.
Anyone else with this problem ? Solutions ? Is there an easier way to get Netflix to the RES screen ?

help ody forum, you’re my only hope.
thanks.

if your model has hdmi, then chromecast into the hdmi jack, stream from any device to the chromecast, works like a charm.

Find out the resolution your screen supports, im guessing 480p with RCA only.
first and second gen chromecasts only support 720p and 1080p

that 11 buck box in the link above should do the trick in your application.

This very much sounds like a settings issue, not a problem with the van. Are you using the controls (remote thingy) to select the aux video in for the RES or the front controls? To get the rear aux audio out the front I think you also have to select that as the audio source for the front.

I haven't done this myself yet and we have a '16 Touring Elite, so the system is a bit different - so I can't be 100% on my answer...

same here... no idea just throwing out suggestions.

I would try a different device to rule out the iphone as the cause.
something simple that supports av component / rca out.

hopefully someone here who has actually done this, can chime in.

Those RCA / composite video cables only support 480i
the pixels would cut my eyes.

still curious what res that screen supports...
The video signal over RCA is analog, I believe, and will be sampled up/down as necessary by the RES unit. Then there is the RES Wide screen in the Elite models...
