OK, I think I am smart person, but resetting this light has me stumped...

I read the manual. We had gone -600 over what our car wanted us to go before an oil change so that is the first obnoxious screen I see on my dash.

I turn the key to position II and hold the button until the screen blinks... Now What? I have pressed the button, scrolled through the screens, released and held for 5 seconds... it wont go away!

Im sure I am missing something simple... does anybody want to help me out?

- Key to position II
- Hold down reset button
- Oil info flashes
- Now what???

Thank you!!!!!

When I did it I started on the oil life screen and pushed the button for 10 seconds. It then shows the service required and possibly some other screens if you keep pushing it. Mine was an A1 service, so on that screen, I pushed and held the button for another 5-10 seconds and it reset it. Hopefully that makes sense and you can get it to work.

After holding down the reset button for approx 10 secs, and the oil info flashes... you LET GO of the button.
The oil info should still be on the screen flashing.
You then PUSH AND HOLD the button AGAIN... and keep holding it until the flashing stops and the oil life is reset (approx 5 secs).

That's it!

I don't want to start a new thread, and after searching this is the closest one - I guess.....

I don't want to start an argument about following the factory recommended intervals, but, I'm planning on changing my oil (2nd change) with about 40% left on the maintenance minder. If I reset the MM for oil like to 100%, how will that monkey with the other maintenance items that come up as a service indicator? B1, A1, etc...?

Thanks in advance. ~Eric

When you go to do the reset, it will show you the maintenance codes that WOULD HAVE shown up had you waited till 15%. You want to write those down before you go through with the reset. That's the only notification you get and if you reset it, the car assumes that you have performed those maintenance items.

I can't seem to get this to work on a 2013 Touring (not Elite). I've pushed the button for 30 seconds and nothing flashes.
Is there a different procedure for the Touring vans?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Resurrecting this question. I have a '14 EX (no Nav) and can't reset the maint minder. I've tried the steps above a half-dozen times and been unsuccessful. And when I try to reset it using the vehicle setting section, it says 'Unable to Complete'. I've tried both with the ignition "on" and with the engine running. Nothing...

The owners manual has been useless. Pardon me while I vent a little bit, but I am just amazed that there is one owners manual for the half-dozen trim levels available. Is it really asking too much to produce for a manual for each specific trim level for a $30,000+ piece of machinery?

IF you've been doing all of those procedures with the driver door opens, get inside the car totally shut the door and see if it does anything.

Thanks for the threads like this one. I was able to change oil and filter pretty easily. Oil filter is easily accessible but messy even after using aluminum foil home made pan. Resetting maintenance minder was easy as well. User manual is less clear, megatrons steps were great. I will add that you need to let flashing stop after first step and then hold the knob down for 5 secs to reset it.

Hi, yeah not sure what I had been doing wrong that first time, but I got it figured out. I just changed it again today; tried alum foil as well to help contain the mess. It helped some, but a little oil still hit the cross-member under the filter.

If that was a 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 0-20 Extended Performance, that was cheap!!! That is about what I pay for it at Wallyworld. At a Mobil Distributor, it is even higher!!!

I just had the same oil reminder reset issue. I tried seevarla times to use the recommended procedure but it just didn't work. When I went to look the car from the outside, the parking lights didn't flash, because the hood wasn't fully latched. So I closed the hood and locked the vehicle with the remote key. The parking lights flashed to confirm everything was locked.

Back inside, I pushed the start buton twice to get the panel lit up. I cycled the reset button to get the oil reminder, then pushed and held the reset button until the oil reminder flashed. Then I released it, then pushed and held it down for at least 20 seconds while the oil monitor light was flashing, and nothing happened. Nothing. Then I released it a second time, then held it down for a shorter period, and eureka! - the oil reminder reset!

Close all five doors AND with the hood fully latched, push the start bnutton twice, then hold the reset button down once and the oil reminder will flash. Push down and hold the reset button again, and release it again. Then push and hold the reset button down a third time. The oil reminder would flash with the hood open, but after that, nothing, until the hood was fully latched.

This isn't how it is supposed to work, but it did for me. Closing the hood tightly was what solved the problem . The partially unlatched hood may be why it took three pushes to reset instead of the two pushes that are otherwise required.
