Thanks for all the detailed info. I have been trolling Craigslist for a week or so and people want a lot for their used carriers. My trip is 12/23 so if I don't find someone who does not want near new pricing I'll have to buy new.

Seriously, people want like 80-90% of the new cost asking $400-$600 for used units. If I can buy a new one with a warranty for 10% more, I'm buying the new one.

I got a Sears Sport 20SV last year for < $200 brand new.

Awesome! I think I will end up going with one of these? Any pics of it on your rig or issues mounting it?

Zero mounting issues. This has now been used on an 09 Ody, 08 Pilot, 09 Sienna and an 04 Ody. At each corner of the box, there are a series of about 8 different mounting holes, to mount a U shaped bracket. I bought a set of cheap nylon plugs (just a few $$) to fill in the 6 unused holes at each corner, making it a bit more water tight. I've driven through some pretty heavy rain, and never had more than a few drops (at the very most) of water inside. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I'm pretty sure I have some pictures at home. I'll try and post them here over the weekend.
