We just purchased the 2011 EX-L becuase it would be closer to the ground for my son who has Muscular Dystrophy. Well he is still having problems getting in it unassisted. Does anyone recommend a company that provides running boards? Honda deleted the option on this year's model. Thanks!

Anybody know if the installation of the running boards will void some aspect of the warranty or make it difficult to get warranty repairs?

My kid has to "climb" up and having the running boards would be nice.

Wow! I didn't think about that. Does anyone know if it will void a warranty if I add non factory running boards?

In general, the manufacturer must prove the accessory specifically caused the problem in order to deny warranty coverage. The burden is on the manufacturer. Running boards are not likely to be a problem.

I doubt it would void any warranty since it most likely bolts onto the frame. Best bet would be to call your local Honda service department or Honda customer service

The only concern I would have is if your sliding doors fail, they could blame the running boards if they want to be jerks about it.

From past experience, most aftermarket running boards are for appearances and not really functional. Definitely ensure they're sturdy and will do what you want them to, before buying them.

I would imagine any custom coach-builder (is that what they're calling themselves these days?) that specializes in converting standard vans to handicap accessable ones would have a good product. Try calling one of those, even if they're a dealer and not the actual builder, and see if they can help.

Be sure to check into Honda's Mobility Program. They will pay up $1000 for doctor recommended additions to the van if you bought it new.
