I traded in my 2002 Silver EX-L on Saturday. It was a great vehicle with many wonderful memories. It was 8 years old with over 121,000 miles.

It never left me stranded and was on the original transmission. Only non-maintenance issue I ever had was a repair on the back-up light harness (lights did not work when you shifted into reverse).

That van took my family on 2 round trips to Florida, 3 roundtrips to Charleston and many, many trips to Virginia. It has been to football tailgates and soccer games. It looked great and worked well.

We purchased in when my older son was 2 before my younger son was born. At first I was not thrilled with the thought of a minivan but I did soon appreciate the convenience of the sliding doors and added room. They are the perfect vehcile for young families. They are safe, easy to get the kids in/out of car seats and have plenty of room for all their stuff. We actually used to bring a full size crib with us on vacation so my little guy would sleep.

It was sad to see her go but it was time. I was recently hit by a deer (the deer ran into the driver side door while I was stopped at a stop sign) and had some body damage. It also needed new brakes and rotors. I also wasn't willing to push my luck with the transmission (although it still shifted great).

I got a good trade-in amount and a great deal on a new Pilot EX-L. So far I love the Pilot and hope it will give me many years of service like the Odyssey.

Thanks to everyone on this board. I didn't post but did use the advice I read here.

Best of luck to you all with your Hondas.

It's nice to occasionally hear a testimonial from someone who had a trouble-free experience with their Honda. We get so used to bad news on these boards that we come to view them all as lemons when in fact they probably still have less overall issues than the bulk of 8 year old vehicles.
