Heads up. I was halfway in the passenger sliding door on my 2002 EX-L loading things in when my passenger grabbed the handle (to open the door wider...). The door shut on me and squished me pretty good. Finally I was able to push back hard enough with my shoulder to open it but I'm a very full grown adult and it hurt me. I am really concerned if it should happen to a child! I will be calling my dealer on Monday but wanted to pass this along so people would be extra careful.

my dad has a 01 EX and had a problem with power sliding doors, and went to dealer on past Monday(19th) and service manager told me it should close like that. My dad was complaining that door close on him too hard.
I wish HONDA install the switch to control the power. Good thing that I have a 01 LX, which I don't have to worry about power sliding doors.

seems as if honda would have a sensor like a garage door or something to keep this from happening. What is going to happen when a child gets really hurt? Honda is going to get sued for damages and they will have a recall to fix the door so that noone will get hurt.

I have '02 EXL Navi and I too was concerned with the power doors. These doors (atleast on the '02s) have a sensor in the lower half of the doors that gets activated when it detects an obstruction in its lasts 12-18 inches of closing. I have tried keeping a hand without touching the door and it does stop. But still, I prefer to do the closing and opening for the kids myself.
