I'll try and remember to take a look at the manual when I get home. I don't have a van to correlate it with yet, but I'll see what I can find. My guess is that this cover would be the same as on the '01, so maybe somebody else may know...?

Well, something has occurred that should be impossible. I have misplaced my Helm Manual. Now, my house isn't THAT big, so it's gotta be here somewhere. I wasn't this scattered until we had our daughter, so I'll blame her for now. Soon as I find the thing, I'll look it up....

Ok, after a complete tour of the house, I've located the manual...now, finding info about that plastic cover...what would you be attempting to do when taking the cover off? Is this the intake manifold cover? It has four bolts, and they all seem to have threaded holes under them. Doesn't seem to be an entry in the index for "missing threaded hole in plastic engine cover."

For '02, I can tell you that there is an additional ignition coil cover, but I'm not sure how much more help I can be without the actual car here.

Here's Michael's shot of what he's talking about. Can any other '02 owner check it out and see if that cover should have a place for the screw? The manual doesn't help at all in this situation.

Right you are. The diagrams on pgs 5-2, 9-4 and 9-9 clearly show that the front, passenger-side screw in question should be threaded into a flange on the "front intake manifold chamber."

Micheal, if I were you, I'd just all four 6x1 mm bolts out and try and find out what's wrong with your flange. The bolts are replaced with a torque of 8.7 lb-ft....which isn't much!

I agree. Don't just get a new bolt. Have the dealer remove the broken threaded portion as well to see why it's stuck in there. The hole may not have been threaded all the way through or something.

Glad you figured it out...I could tell it was bugging the boogers out of you

Heck, if all you missed was one hidden broken bolt in a plastic cover...consider yourself in GREAT shape.

I'm still wondering if my van truly was ordered back in August. Not a scrap of info from my dealer yet...
