I thought I'd post this here so as not to create too much cross over into other topics. While performing my lumbar support install, I encountered an issue that I previously noticed but didn't pay too much attention to. Unless you have had a flat and needed to access the spare tire you may not have noticed this either. What I am referring to is the unequal seat track lengths on the driver's seat of the EX model. I am not sure if this design exists on the LX with manual seats or not, but it does create an interference with the spare tire access door opening. The issue is the door will not open up high enough to retrieve the tire without hitting the right side track. There is no reason that I can determine for its length as the seat does not use the extended length at any time. However, its is annoying if you have a flat or just want to check the airpressure. I haven't inquired with Honda about this so I don't know if there is a legitimate reason that I am unaware of for its existance. Anyonne care to guess? BTW, here is a photo of it just to refresh your memories:

Hmm ... the left side is from the Accord V6 and the right is from a '87 Lincoln Mark VII. Honda bean counters at work!

Just a guess.

I was wondering about that seat track too, but for a different reason. If a shorter person is driving (seat further forward), and a long-legged person is sitting behind, wouldn't that track present an opportunity for a bruised ankle? I mentioned it to the Service Department, but they 'claim' to never have noticed it before. All Ody's in my area came from Canada, but mine is one of the first to come from Alabama. I wondered if that had something to do with it?
