I have them same problems with my rear vent motors as well. It is annoying but they still work. I just have to find the time to have them replaced by the dealer.

Does anyone know the amount of time it takes a dealer to replace the motors??

It will take anywhere from 45 min. to 1 hr. to replace it (one side). Make sure they have it in stock (had to wait about 5 days for them to get one in). So far so good.

I've had both motors replaced on my 2000 Lx.
They are squealing again about 6 months later. Dealer says Honda is aware of it, but doesn't have a fix. I (and the service mgr) don't want to keep disassembling those back panels to install motors that may squeak soon too. I am living with it for now.

One of mine was replace for this problem and Honda mechanic really scraped up the plastic cover on the hinge.

Make sure if you get them resplaced that there's no damage around the panel (it should be replaced firmly) and the hinge cover.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll wait a a bit to take it to the dealer since it's not squeaking too badly. I've only had it a few weeks and already had to have it in the shop to add the tow package and then to do a front end alignment. I guess when the sound drives me crazy I'll do it.

And just one other thing.

I had the motors replaced on my '99 Ody. One is still silent , but the other one squeals again.

Some time after the replacement, it sounded like my rear A/C fan was loose and rattling. It persisted so much that I figured how to remove the cover panel ( the one the Honda Tech used to gain access to my vent motors) I found a sheet of thin vinyl plastic behind my A/C blower had become loose and was flapping in the breeze back there. Completely inaccessible unless you want to try to figure out how to remove the blower. I fiddled with it three times till I finally squeezed my hand back there and punctured the plastic and made an "escape" vent for the air creating the noise. That fixed it. Of course I don't know what surprise awaits me down the road.

Just a word to the wise.
