So my 10-day-old Ody now has a crack in the tailgate spoiler running from the bottom of the washer hole straight down. Not very Honda-esque! At least the dealer is warrantying it no questions asked.

Boy if you can pull that one off, I'm heading out to the van now w/ a sledgehammer to give the spoiler a couple of whacks.

I'll want to paint mine...but I sure don't wanna go through the trouble if the dang thing is just gonna crack on me! Frustrating. Somebody needs to come out with a high-quality aftermarket unit (a subtle one, guys... small like the stock one - don't go sending me jpgs of whale-tail wings) with an integrated LED brake light. THEN we'd be set.

Same occurred here with cracks starting around the washer. Dealer replaced it 8 months ago and this week just noticed a one inch long horizontal crack about a third of the way from the left. I'll wait and see what happens during the next few months.

I checked my spoiler. It's cracked from the same place as you guys mentioned. I just saw a LX parked at OfficeDepot parking lot. Guess what I looked and saw a spoiler cracked at the same place.

Is Ody spoiler a dealer stock item? How long do you guys have to wait to get yours replaced? How long does it take to replace it? Just a couple screws or ????

I don't know but I sure plan to hang out & watch them take it off! I wanna see just how 'careful' the dealer truly is...

Are these cracked where the washer fluid runs down? I have wondered whether the fluid is causing the problem. Chemical reaction with the plastic of the spoiler????

While my crack is where the fluid runs down, it'd been run exactly twice in my first week of ownership when I first discovered the crack, which was definitely *not* there at delivery.

On to the repair... the @*&^$(&$! dealer apparently gave my part to someone else because after making me wait an HOUR today they told me that yes the spoiler is cracked and they'll order me one along with an exchange radio because of a sticky preset button. My jaw hit the floor as I related the exact words the other service advisor used after confirming that they had one in parts - "We have one but I can't get it installed for you now. Come back Tuesday at 10:00." You can imagine the conversation I had with the service manager, who didn't really seem to care one whit but obliged when I told him I expected him to at least do my first oil change for free. And I've totally written off the other 2 dealers in town because of their arrogant sales departments! Arrgghh!

Scott sorry to hear about your "not so professional" local dealder. How long do they quote you to have your spoilder replaced?

To save my time and trip to dealership, I am thinking to get my spoiler replaced when I do my first oil change. Which will be at least a couple to 3 months down the road. I put on just a little over 2000 miles in 2 months.
Look likes replacement spoiler is in hot demand, dealer could give it to someone else. I better call in to get it on order now.

That's the best part - THEY DIDN'T! Who knows when it will come in? Oh, well. I knew going in that some dealers' service departments just plain sucked, now I know that this particular dealer's department truly does suck. I think I'm going to demand a loaner for when they do the repair, since they quoted me 2.5 hours each to do the spoiler and radio replacements.

I took my 01 in for my first oil change and mentioned to the service writer that my spoiler is cracked. He picked up the phone and called the parts department to check spoiler availability. Spoiler is on back order. I asked him about how severe is the problem? He pulled out the Honda Service Bulletin it lists all 99, 00 and some of the 01 S/N are affected.
