After 4 months waiting, my SS 2002 LX is finally in at the dealer. I go to pick it up on Wednesday (Feb 6).

Does anyone have any suggestions for things I should look for/ask about in terms of problems with the 2002s? From reading this site, I know to check for a pull at highway speeds and problems with the SS paint. Any other things you wish you had checked before you signed on the dotted line and laid down your $25K?

Thanks,

You may want to click on the links section at the top of the odyclub home page, there is a pre-delivery checklist about halfway down the page with a lot of good information.

Look at the paint in as many different lighting conditions as you can. Once you sign on the dotted line, there's not much you can do to rectify it if the paint isn't up to your standards. You might even put off taking delivery for a few days, and go look at the van at the dealership several times at different times of day.

I would not recommend this. These vans are in high demand. Honda dealers can't keep them on the lot. Yours will either get "accidently" sold by a sales person who didn't know it was yours or it will be test driven by everyone coming in looking at Odys. Try to take delivery during the day rather than at night. If you are concerned about repainting or other issues, take a paint depth thickness gauge with you.

One thing to note about the paint depth is that ours is fine even though we have the "swirling" problem in the paint. You should try to look at it in direct sunlight and also see if you can pull it into their service bay and look at it without sunlight shining directly. Also look at it from every possible angle!

My paint imperfections are easily seen when the van is in direct sunlight and I put on my good glass lens sunglasses. Even in pictures, if I put the sunglass lens in front of the camera lens, it clearly shows up cloudy!
