Tire Shopping - Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus III
My 17 EXL has 112k miles on it. My current Michelin Defender LTX have 69k miles. They were good tires, noisy, but lasted. This is a discontinued tire for 2023, so availability is slim in my area.
Based on all my research, I'm looking for my last set of tires on this van. Something that will get 50-60k miles, is quiet, and performs well in wet weather. Snow is not a huge concern in KY per se, and we have a Pilot with AWD should we need to venture out in snowy weather.
Having said all this, has anyone put a set of Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus III on their van? it's a pricey tire (about $195/tire before install and tax.) The reviews seem solid, but looking for real world users in this forum.

I have the scorpion 3s on my rear as the scorpion 2s wore out after driving cross country, due to heavy loading. Got 27k out of the rear end 2s. The front are probably low 30s and will be at tread west for warranty replacement in another 2-5000 miles. Keep in mind I live in Arizona and I’ve heard our roads have some composition that’s harder on tires. the scorpion 3s seem way quieter than the 2s, supposedly last longer. Handling/quiet are my top 2 things.
I’ve had ltx on odyssey before returned them, because I couldn’t stand their floaty feel. The scorpions give you a lot better control/feel. They are a little stiff for bumps andminor road imperfections.
you are going to have a hard time beating ltx mileage wear. I hear they have a new generation out this year.

27k-30k miles is pretty disappointing... on a 70k mile tire supposedly.

No regrets but I only have 5,500 miles on then. They are the top rated tire in that category in the Tire Rack reviews. The Michelin Climate 2 is second but I don’t drive in snow and some owners report noise with them.
ya it is low. However, with mileage warranty I paid $200 for the new set of two tires (scorpion 3).
I’ve come to accept low mileage life for these types of ties.
For me that is typical to get less than half the rated life on any tire even when properly rotated, and on multiple cars, not just the Ody unfortunately.....
I have had the Scorpion 3’s on for about 18 months/ 22k miles. The wear has been great and they are quiet and handle well. Scorpion 2 were the OE tire on our Audi SUV, which is how I learned about them. I think there is currently a sale at TireRack on Pirelli.
ya get noisy for us too right before replaceable under warranty (4/32treadwear or whatever). Fronts are noticeably loud but bearable and about to get replaced.
Got uneven treadwear on back set due to the heavy cross country drive and guess could say sounded like a bad bearing…was worried about kids having hearing loss so loud
