My husband was cleaning the ody and let our toddler help. Before he could stop him, our son thought the cd player looked like a bank. I bet you can guess where this is going. After putting 2 coins in the cd player, our stereo broke and the interior lights/dash light dont work. Any suggestions (other then getting my son a bank of his own!!!!!!).

Thank you!

Pain... much pain....

What year and type of stereo?
Some long thin tweezers, and a new fuse, and maybe you'll be fine. Maybe a thin thing with some double-sticky tape on it would help. Other than that, remove the stereo and dump out the coins.

Or I suppose you could park on a REALLY steep hill and jiggle it!

Looks like your going to have to pull the radio to get at the coins. The procedure for removing the dash panel and radio are in the Tech section. Also sounds like you blew fuse 11 in the passenger side fuse box. (15amp Interior light/radio).

Good luck. Take heart in the fact that you are not the first to complain of this dilemma to the Odyclub.

I have not been able to find the directions on how to remove the dash panel. I looked in the Tech section and do not see it.

Thank you!

Aren't kids so "helpful?"

Mine "helped daddy clean" the Mustang the other day.

While I was working inside the car, he took the steel brush (for tires) and "cleaned" the rear bumper for me.

Luckily, the sound of metal on paint alerted me soon enough to stop him very soon.

Good luck with the CD player.

Is this the month for toddlers to put pennies in the CD player? My 2-year-old did the exact same thing in my '02 about a week ago. The CD player works fine for the first 40 minutes of the CD, but as the laser unit travels to the outer edge of the CD, it quits working. I guess I'll be doing surgery on my CD player this weekend.

Ahem, uh, well...at the risk of sounding like I am gloating, I would like to point out that I have never, ever had a llama, young or old, put a coin in the stereo. ;)

In all fairness, though, I suspect that none of the toddlers who've put coins in the tape or CD slot have ever put green spit on the inside of the windshield (or back of the driver's head) during a spat with a sibling.

I guess we're more or less even.....

Success! The info at http://www.handa-accessories.com/odyssey/odycd.pdf is helpful, but it was extremely difficult (impossible) to remove the "blank" to the left of the radio. What worked instead was to pry the panel starting at the top left corner, next to the steering wheel. I can't find the link now, but I think someone on this forum had posted some pics illustrating how to do this. Once I released the top left clip, I started working clockwise, and pretty soon the whole thing was off. Everything else is easy.

I gave the two pennies I found back to my daughter.

Total job time (before getting up the learning curve) was about 90 minutes. Next time it should only take 30 minutes.

How's this for resurrecting an old thread by an old Odyclub member.

Thanks to this forum I saved our stereo from our 2 year old.

I haven't been lurking here for quite some time, but Odyclub was the first place I turned when I needed to fish some coins out of the stereo. A quick search and voila! Success!

Thanks.
