2011 Touring (Cdn. edition) put on winter tires and rims with after market TPMS sensors, Honda service is unable to turn off TPMS alarm (same noise as door alarm) even after finding the codes using the sensor. Try driving around with that all day - ready to sell this lemon at a loss just to be rid of Honda's indifference and gouging prices for sensors and other items.
Anyways - before i really begin to lose it - can anyone tell me how to turn off the TPMS alarm (i don't care about the light, its the noise i can't stand).
PS had to go after market with tires b/c Honda couldn't sell me a 18" rim for winter tires. Useless, Useless, useless. did i mention i'm sadly disappointed in Honda? never buying honda again.
I haven't done anything other than give up on getting winter tires. Thanks for not helping me make my family safe, Honda! You idiots!
Note: in all likelihood Honda could easily fix this in software. Here's a start:
IF {car drove all over town for an hour today}
AND {TPMS sensor codes remained unchanged for that hour}
THEN {assume new wheels; store new codes; carry on with life}
Have any of you tried the ATEQ to switch between codes yourself? You will need someone to get you the stock codes plus the codes in a set of winters. I did this (ATEQ is close to my house) and did the tire swap and TPMS switchover myself. Easy to do.
@Our Odyssey, I don't have an ATEQ nor do I know anybody who does. Yesterday I had the guy at the tire company try re-sending the information from the tire to the car but no luck. Today their response was that they've never heard of this before and need to order a new sensor but the beeping is a manufacturers problem. Most mechanics aren't very understanding of taking advice from posts on the internet so I doubt I could just show up and direct them what to do. I don't even fully understand it myself.
@Goofball, I agree. This is absurd that Honda would have something that non-stop beeps for eternity when their own service people tell me it is safe to drive. An audible warning should come with some way to disable it but right now they are causing a more distracting and dangerous environment in the car. I can't believe that nobody when designing this system prepared the possibility of defective sensors.
So same thing happened to me yesterday when pulling into my driveway from the dealership, the tpms light came on and stayed. Going back to the dealership soon but from what i gather nothing can be done about this honda defect? any help or advise would be great, runs and drives great, tires look fine but have yet to check the pressure. Seems like its not a big deal with the odyssey but info would be much appreciated.
