I wanted to remove the mud and dirt accumulated from several raining days so I jacked up the rear tire and used dishwashing soap and an old brush to clean the area behind the tire. I didn't use any force or pressure and when I hosed it down the black paint was gone, I know this happens but only if you over do it, at least not the first time, not on a 30k car. Any way I'll paint again black but just wanted everyone to know.

Use paintable rubberized undercoating. If you do the whole wheelwell it'll soundproof it a good bit. Be sure to mask off everything well. It's HARD to get the undercoating off things after it cures.
