Alas, there are many different DVD specs. (The family of DVD specifications is a confusing mess.) The DVD player used in the NAV is likely one of the non-video-based ones. (It would've been wasteful to use a video-based DVD.) You can easily confirm this by taking out the DVD itself and putting it into a DVD player to confirm that the two aren't compatible.
