I want to disable the VCM by having the check engine light on. instead of a muzzler which tricks the resistance wire on coolant temp sensor. On a side note im chasing down 2 different parasitic drains, for now I wired a battery shut off switch inside the van, so I'm sure it relearns idle when it sits for long, which would help to have accurate coolant temps, I know VCM tuner 2 has a relearn mode where it runs normal first couple minutes on idle but it's 160$ my old rusty van needs other things first. Also I've seen posts about S-vcm failing and causing van to run rough. I just want to do the CEL to have it shut off by the ecu, instead of tricking the temperature sensor to bypass it. but my battery disconnect will erase stored codes and some stored codes will clear themselves when fixed. I need a harmless CEL that triggers every time. I know people unplug a spool/vvt solenoid but that will also disable the vsa/cruise control. I'm fine with that but wondering what else would be good. Some people say emissions code I wonder if that can effect how the engine runs. like loose gas cap code but actually loosening the gas cap some people say effects fuel pressure and in my case might reset with battery disconnecting.

- Widely known issue of VCM
- Clearly documented fix that was thoughtfully engineered
- It's not free, you have to pay for it (like most things)
- Gets fear mongered for no good reason
- Brain dead workarounds being thrown around for no good reason
