I installed the VCM tuner 2 in my 2020 ex-l this weekend. i know there is some debate about VCM and its pros/cons here, but this is the direction i felt comfortable going.
Not looking to open up that debate or add to the endless threads dedicated to it.
What I am hoping to do, is get a recommendation for an OBD2 scanner/reader that you are using successfully on the 5th gens. Specifically looking for live data for the ECT (engine coolant temp)
I currently have an Ancel AD310 i bought in 2017. It has worked fine on my comparatively Very basic 2004 civic. I bought it to read codes at the time and it has served me well.
Unfortunately, while it does give live data, ECT is missing from the list of readouts. I suspect this may be due to the reader being old or otherwise not up to snuff for the new and complex vehicle that is the Odyssey-lol.
What i want to do, is verify the function of the VCM tuner 2 by observing the coolant temp the car is seeing.
I realize there is a broad range of readers and prices available. Ancel has the AD410 which is apparently the next step up from the unit i have. i also see the blue driver is well regarded. open to other suggestions, hopefully keeping price sub $200ish
