The EX-RES head unit does have a small volume indicator. According to the manual the EX will play CD-R's but it doesn't mention the capability of playing MP3's. Haven't tried it yet but I would guess not.

I could glance at that, and know how much I have the volume cranked up or not, which is especially handy when switching from distant faint AM talk-radio, over to loud rockin' stereo FM. Is my unit missing this option in error, or does everyone's Ody not have this. It is the only music playing device I own that I cannot, by looking at it, see how high I have the volume turned up.
One other quick question on this topic. Does the EX '02 in-dash CD player play MP3 discs? I play CD-Rs that I make all the time, but was wondering if the Ody will play the more compressed MP3 formatted homemade tracks.
Thanks,
Jason

No, and no. The standard EX radio has no volume indicator. It doesn't play MP3 either. Sorry, you'll have to go aftermarket if you want those features.<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by jasoninwi:
