BIG issue for me is the reduced head room getting in to the front seats...might be just the motivation needed to lose some of the girth around backside and my middle! The wife actually liked the look…
I drove the Siena, and it was too much of a cave for me in the driver’s seat…big A pillars, then the little window…nope not impressed.

I was not able to drive the Odyssey. Will do so in a month or two…

Fascinating.

We find the Sienna's cabin to be at least as airy as our Ody, and the little window to allow more light in compared to the blocked off Ody.

Haven't sat in a new Ody yet regarding the headroom but our new Sienna also seems to have more headroom, even when I put the seat up really high.

Cheers.

Don't know what to tell you about the Sienna...I noticed it as soon as the door closed. Driving position was fine, but this was an issue for me. I will be going back since they did not have the SE on the lot, and I intend to go from that to the Ody right away to compare.

The dead pedal on the '11 Ody was real tight for me as well, but since I did not drive it I could not tell for sure.

Lot of $$ to be spent, so I want to be sure. We talked about trying to find a rental agency and try them out for a weekend each or something like that to get a true test drive.

Are the outside mirrors black on the trim levels? I see that in the commercials and I cannot believe it. That is so old school of Honda to do that.

Everything I see shows that they are black. (Gotta' give them something to "freshen up for 2012!)
I think it looks awfully cheap and awkward especially in the $43K Touring Elite model. Those mirrors scream "LX" or "DX" in other Honda models. It is enough to keep me from trading in my 08 Touring.

Black Mirrors

jpstinnett I understand completely...in your case, I would definitely wait and see what 1 year's worth of run-time on this new model brings...I am thinking of that and we have a 2000 base Ody that I am thinking of keeping another year so I can fit into the new generation or look for a late model…hey, how good a shape is your Touring????:D

I was stopped at a traffic light this past weekend which is right next to our local Honda dealer. I looked over and there was a jet-black '11 Odyssey parked such that I got a good side view.

All I can say is that it reminded me of a hearse! All they have to do is put landau bars (one could do a set with some vinyl graphics quite easily) on those third windows and there you go.

Take a look next time you see one and see what you think. I'll have to stop by the dealer and get a pic.

I can see the personalized plate now: "DEADODY" ;)

Visited the dealer this weekend for a first look at the 2011 Ody. The zigzag beltline was a little weird, but it looked better than in the pictures and definitely not a deal-killer per my first reaction. The mirrors and spoiler are black alright, but gloss black. They look elegant and blend in well with the surrounding black pillars and glass. The door handles and the side accents are angular, like recent Caddy styling. I would have preferred a more subtle style. However, they are larger and easier to operate. It has one-piece sliding door windows again - much cleaner appearance.

The interior was vastly different from my 02. The view out the back is like a porthole - round and small. The D pillars are very thick and along with the small side window gives very little lane-changing visibility. An extra mirror check is a must. It seemed wider and just bigger overall. The steering wheel felt hard and thin - not at all like the soft, chunky wheel in my 02.

I could stay only for 15 minutes but that's a few observations for now.

I don't understand why Honda dropped the black interior. It would have been nice with the silver exterior. Black is so much slicker and it hides dirth and blemishes much better. That means less cleaning on my part because who is going to know besides me? haha

I did not know they dropped Black interior. That is another reason to wait. I have a Black/Black Touring. No way I am going away from a black leather interior.
