After reading this entire thread I am hearing people recommend the weathertech floorliners over the weathertech all weather mats. Is this correct?

I live in the midwest. Lots of snow and rain and do not want it on my carpet. Sounds to me based on what I am reading hear the floorliners are the way to go.

I contacted Wethertech and here is their response:

Thank you for your interest in MacNeil Automotive.

We do not have current plans to make the FloorLiners for the 1999 through 2004 version of the Honda Odyssey. The only alternative we offer are the Classic Premium rubber mats, which can be found online using the link below.

Please call us if you have further questions and we will be happy to assist you.

Best regards,

Does anyone have suggestions as to which mats would be best for me?

I had this set in my '02 that I sold in Dec '06. The carpet was in very excellent condition after 4 years of northern IL weather. The only thing that you should add is some kind of additional protection for the area above the mat where your left foot would normally be.

I, and others here, used a left over portion of the 2nd row mat that you will need to trim away for your mats to fit into the 2nd row floor properly. I placed one of those trimmed pieces under the left side of the front mat and it provided that extra protection that the front mat was lacking.

What year should I buy?

Thank you for your post.

I hope you don't mind I have some follow up questions:

What year of the Weathertech floorliners should I buy for my 2003?

I suppose you don't have pictures of your customizations on you 02?

In your opinion are the weather techs the best after market floorliners out there? Any why?

Your advice is kindly appreciated.

Again thank you.

muskiediver, we are out of sync here.

The Weathertech model that I had in my '02 was the All-Weather Floor Mats that you show the link for in your initial post. The All-Weather Floor Mats are not quite as good as the Floorliner's, but they'll do a very good job based upon my experience.

I don't think I would be willing to experiment on a $90 Floorliner to see if it will fit in your '03.

In my opinion Weathertech makes the best carpet protection mats, period.

Thanks for the clarification

Ok, I understand.

I have a 2006 Ody and a 2001 Ody (same as 03). I bought the liners for my 2006 (first and second row), but stored the 06 for the winter. So I moved the liners into the 2001.

They aren't custom perfect, but they fit and have worked great, and I do not really notice (would consider myself relatively picky too). There is really no alternative that will protect any better. If you think you have a new Ody in your future (07, 08 or 09), this is a no-brainer IMHO. Get the liners, can always return them too.
