I just found out last night that my new TW EX has just arrived at the dealer and I am going to pick it up today.

I have searched around for trailer hitches and the best price I can find is $152.00 for a Draw-Tight Class III hitch installed at the local U-Haul dealer. I saw a post on this web site about a month ago for a Hidden Hitch for $99.00 at J. C. Whitney, but when I called them up, the price on it was right around $150.00 and I would still have to install it. I can't remember if that included shipping also???? Does anyone know of a better deal (better than the $152.00 price) on a Class III trailer hitch? I can install it myself if it will save me a few bucks. Many thanks in advance!

I got the Hidden Hitch round tube, Class III at a local trailer/van/trucking supply store for $110. Drawtites were about the same. I just opened the yellow pages and looked under trailer parts, then called around. The three shops were all within about $10, and they take care of the shipping! The $150 installed price sounds pretty good, esp. if it includes the wiring harness, which is an extra $25 or so.

good luck,
Greg

Odyinid, you are forgetting the wiring harness. It has a special connector to fit the Honda harness and a little black box so your flashers/turn signals still time correctly and so brake and trailer lights work will work correctly. If you buy this from draw-tite I bet it will not have the Honda connector. I did this on my Accord and had to almost had to sign a liability release to get the connector and pins from Honda.

The Honda setup is a draw-tight product but the wiring harness is all Honda. Installing the hitch is a straight forward bolt-on from underneath. The wiring harness requires removing the bumper -- all for the sole purpose of routing the wires thru an existing hole underneath the bumper. There is nothing really wrong with plugging in the harness near the taillight, and then just flopping it over the rear sill to connect to the trailer.

If you want to save money buy the hitch and harness from handa.com and (saving time)install the harness without removing the rear bumper.

My dealer is giving me the list price from the parts dept (Transmission cooler, hitch and harness, hitch ball, etc., for $239 + $309 = $548 total parts), plus $167 for installation. I figured this was worth my time and energy when weighed against the other choices.

One can get the correct harness from Hidden Hitch or JCWhitney or Bageco.com. The harness for ANY Odyssey (95-99 is usually listed) appears to work. The bumper doesn't need to come off, as one can route the wiring through the tail light compartment and down along the bumper. You can find more details in a thread titled "Hidden Hitch Round Tube hitch. Sorry, but I don't know how to link the threads. The entire set up (hitch, harness, ball, ball mount, locking pin, 18 mm socket cost about $200 at a local hitch dealer, and the installation was complete in under three lazy hours. Happy to answer any more questions...

Thanks for all the info guys! I guess I should have been more specific in my request. I don't need the wiring harness because I am just going to use the hitch for a bike rack that I already own. I will probably end up going with the U-Haul Draw-Tight (or is it Draw-Tite?) unit because I have priced all the local hitch suppliers in this area. I thought the Hidden Hitch might be an option that would be a little more attractive hanging under my bumper and was hoping that I could find one for under $150 on a special somewhere that I hadn't looked.

if you call jc whitney use this code. it is catolog number 125j-04 the part number is 07VV1751P and the price listed in the cataloge is 109.95. it is wrong in their computer. tell them that. i got the price listed in the catalog. get the harness for the 95-99 odyssey. part number 07VV208B for 2.49. these prices are good until july 31st. I got these two parts and a tranny cooller from them (not reccommended) for under $190 before shipping. and installation was easy. i use the hitch this past weekend to pull a open full car trailer and my Accord to toronto and back. scary at first but it was fine. You will still need a trailer ball and mount. like $40 for both from Uhaul or any other place. hope this helps. feel free to ask me questions as i installed the stuff myself.
