It's called the door checker. Not very hard to replace.

I've always known it as a door brake.

Found one and ordered it. Thanks Wilmaster..........👍
Unless they upgraded and improved the 'door-checker" a lot, they are pretty poor at keeping the door open, at least on the 2nd Gen Ody.
They basically suck at what they are supposed to do compared to most brands of autos and trucks.

I'm pretty happy with mine on both of my vehicles. They do their job.

Are yours still the original or did you replace them?
Both of the ones (Dr and Pass) on my '03 barely work, almost no resistance.
I think a fart would close them. o_O:ROFLMAO:
Thanks,

Here in the hill country, only half the parking lots face downhill. The other half, I hold the door for my wife.

They really suck on my '03 as they act more like oiled 'hinges'!! :) :) :)
I'll bet you wife appreciates your chivalry !!
And, it keeps you in better physical shape.

I'm here to report back, I installed the Dorman Door Checker or Door Brake whichever you prefer.

Not a fun job. I watched a video on replacing one but it was on a Gen 3 and really wasn't much help for by then
things changed.

I need to admit I took the Lord's name in vain many times ESPECIALLY after I got it back together and then the power doors locks did not work. Come on..........really?

Stopped for lunch to clear my head and went back at it. Then I tried using the key to cycle the lock and unlock mechanism and don't ask me why, that got the power lock working again. My forehead is red and raw from rubbing it trying to figure out what didn't work, what worked sometimes, what worked and then didn't and finally what did work.

A simple remove and replace took me hours sad to confess. If I was a mechanic, I'd be living on Happy Meals in a Cardboard box. I am humbled and also exhausted on what looked like, a simple repair.

Yes it is working well..in fact a bit stiff....but compared to what it was, i'd rather have stiff than sloppy.

Make sure you have some of the plastic doors buttons, clips or snaps because I broke 5 of mine off getting the
door panel off. It doesn't look like any one was inside the door as the rain shield and all was still adhered to the
door frame well.

This job would have been so so sooooooooo easy had they had threaded NUTS INSIDE the door frame and the
door jamb. 3 bolts out and 3 bolts in, bada bing badaboom. Amazing how much disaasembly needs to be done to fix a minor issue.

Next is the passenger door lock actuator........like DICK CLARK USED TO SAY ON AMERICAN BANDSTAND:

THE HITS JUST KEEP ON A'COMIN🙁
