I’m wondering if any members have an EZ PASS transponder (tag) in a ‘01 EX? Is it an exterior or interior transponder?

We go down to the States a lot and are thinking about getting an EZ Pass transponder. We picked up an application form last time we were down in New York State and it mentioned that the Honda Odyssey 01 model has a heat reflective windshield coating and it would need an exterior transponder. I have never heard of this before and would like to get an interior transponder.

Can someone with a 01 EX with a transponder from EZ Pass let me know what kind of transponder they have. Does anyone know whether the windshield has a reflective coating that will block a transponder signal?

I also have an 01 EX and have an interior EZ Pass transponder. I never experienced any problems going through the EZ Pass toll booths. I think you can see my EZ Pass transponder in this picture:

I have both a PikePass (for use on Oklahoma toll roads) and a TollTag (for use on Texas toll roads) mounted on the inside windshield of my '01 Ody; never had a problem with either system reading them.

My EZTag is in the bottom junk compartment just above the power outlet. It works fine there. It's not a line of sight device.

It kills me everytime I see people holding up their module everytime they pass the toll booth. LOL

Hey, MarioB,

I am in the Princeton area, not too far from you, but I don't see houses like in your picture here. For some reason it reminds me of FL, no NJ. Did you take that pic here? I'd expect to see much better / bigger homes in your town.

LOL! That's what I was thinking... my house looks like those... I had to blink and notice the NJ tag. I think the picture was taken in Florida... LOL

The street, the storm drainage, the hydrant, the cable company equipment box (in the back ground), the grass, the trees, the central air... I bet really that was taken from someplace in Florida...

I've got mine above the rear view mirror on the tint strip so I sort of can't see it but you can pretty much put it anywhere. I don't know how people drive with it stuck to the middle of the windshield, that would bother me, my eyes would wonder to look at what is on my windshield.

That's right. The picture was taken around Tampa, FL after driving down from NJ. That's why the cargo carrier is on top.
