both of the front wheel well liners are cracked from the mounting screws just above the splash guards. how common is this problem?

2000 lx,fern grey,remote starter, single disc cd player,roof rack with cross rails, bra, hidden hitch,csa 5 spoke alloy wheels,15% film over oem privacy glass and artic alpine tires on the oem steel wheels.

has anyone had this problem? did honda fix the problem without much fuss?

Assume your ody is still under warranty. Try making appointment for warranty work, it never hurt to try.
good luck. I would guess that your service manager would replace them w/o much fuss.

A dealer mechanic recommended against getting the add-in wheelwell liners due to Winter road salt. He said the liners can trap salt and moisture against the wheel wells, increasing the risk of rusting rather than decreasing it.

Does anyone else hold this opinion?

i am talking about the factory inner fenderwell cover. the big black plastic piece that is held in by screws along the wheel well lip.

Ok, so you are not talking about the <a href="http://handa-accessories.com/odyext02.html">"Fenderwell Trim?"</a> That is what the mechanic was talking about.

Perhaps when the splash guards were installed, they were put on too tight that it cracked the liner. Were these dealer installed? If so, they might replace it. If you installed it yourself, then I think you're out of luck. In any case I don't think it'll cause any problems.
