So I'm sort of in the market to replace our 08. But no one has any Elites in stock, ever, in Houston. I thought by now Honda would have caught up with demand, but I guess not. I hate "ordering" one as I find that I get a better deal with an in stock model.

I think the upper end models have been selling better than even Honda expected, so supply might continued to be constrained. I think you have to look for a dealer that has several and then make your deal. You might have to travel farther to find one though.

We never found one on a lot, had to go through Honda's "Allocation Process" - and that took 11 weeks before delivery.

But then again, I live in the middle of nowhere (Albuquerque) with only a handful of dealers to choose from.

Touring Elite - $40,218 including destination

You're right - my experience is typically an in stock car at the end of the month is the ideal situation in terms of buying.

I live in San Diego and they are selling in SoCal for a premium - $44,000+. I purchased a Smoky Topaz Elite from Brilliance Honda outside of Chicago about a month ago for $40,218 (inc destination) which I believe is at or just below invoice. Shipping did cost me $850 but I still saved a ton of money and am very happy with the van.

Contact Darrell Herbert at Brilliance as they have a lot of Elites in stock typically in multiple colors. Best buying experience I've ever had.

Hope that helps.

PS - To answer your original question I've heard rumors that there was a shortage of split rear entertainment screens which limited the production of the Elites although I'm not sure if there is any truth to that.

Thanks, but I'll just wait till they get some locally. When we got our 08 we got a screaming deal as it was just the start of the recession and they were literally giving Odyssey's away!

New England is all out of Tourings, but a few Touring Elite's around, but don't even try to find a truffle interior.

Honda has blown it on the inventory.

It's not the first time considering there was a 6 month waiting list for the 2nd gen back in the late ninety's.

Planning to pick up our Canadian Touring (Touring Elite in US) on April 2nd, and was hoping by waiting till then that Honda might spring for some April incentive of some sort on the Odyssey's. However, after reading your posts, the chances are sounding pretty slim given the US backlog.

Not sure if it's different here in the metro NY area, but we just picked up a Smoky Topaz Touring Elite for $40,600+TTL. Not quite invoice, but not bad and with little haggling. Dealer located and delivered within a week. They had two black and one white Elite in stock.

Don't think incentives are tied as much to inventory as to customers. Saying you will have to wait 8 weeks and pay more isn't going to get you out of a Sienna sale.

I order our 2001 and waited a long time too, but back then, the Ody was so far superior (and was assembled in Canada), it made sense to wait.

I don't think you can count on incentives until the end of the model. The Sienna has been out since July and there has yet to be an incentive. In addition, given what is going on in Japan, there wil no doubt be some constraint in supply, meaning low inventory levels - not exactly the environment that breeds incentives.

I picked mine up at Honda Cars of Katy.

They had the Elite in the showroom...and it was my 1st choice of color. Metallic Silver.

They had a few since January, but I guess they are sold out on the Elites. I doubt there will be any "giveaway" specials on the Elites anytime soon.

Good luck on your search.

So how come you ended up with a Polished Metal Metallic? Wife's choice?

:DD
No, it was the most sportiest color.
I meant to say ...the dealer had the Polished metal metallic.

My previous vehicle was a metallic grey H2.
