the main relay is under the dash up by the steering wheel and brake pedal on the left hand drive models, i assume it would be in the same location except on the right side of the vehicle.

Why do you think it's the main relay? do you hear the fuel pump priming or the relay clicking?

 

I found it now.
It's on the left of the steering column hidden right at the back.
One of the solder joints had a hairline crack right around it. I touched up all joints and now to see if the car is reliable again.

PS I live on a highway so it's hard to hear anything.

 

Glad you found it. yeah cracked solder joints is what fails on those and soldering it again is the fix. nice work.
damn shame about living next to the highway.
