I have a 2000 Odyssey EX. A few months after purchase the driver and passenger windows developed a rattle. It occurs when they are shut, but is very noticable when they are half open. The dealer replaced the mechanism in the door recently, which has not helped. Pushing on the window stops the rattle, which to me seems to indicate a problem with the weather stripping around the window. The dealer discounted my theory and said they could hear the rattle in the door. Has anyone experienced this problem?

My 2001 LX had a slight rattle on the driver's window when it was slightly down. No rattle when all the way up or half down.

I "fixed" it myself by installing some MacNeil Weatherflector air deflector shades. They install in the window gap and make things a bit tighter.

I own a 99 EX with 30,000 miles. Since the day I bought the vehicle (with 15,000 miles), I have heard a soft but distinct "rattle" coming from the drivers side window. I hear it mostly when the window is up, the radio volume turned low/off and going over certain (type) bumps. It sounds more like the window is not completely seated and " rubs" against the molding.

I have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice. The first time they replaced the window mechanism, but the sound remained. The second time, they said they could not hear anything. The mechanic also said that Honda switched from a linkage type window mechanism to a cable type mechanism. He said there was nothing more he could do.

The sound has become very annoying. I am about to perform a small experiment. I will take a length of twine and fit it on the inside lip(s) of the top portion of the window molding. I'll post my results later.

My driver side window rattles a lot when open an little. Doesn't rattle when closed. The passenger window doesn't rattle, but it has a lot of play when open a little. The dealer and Honda say this is normal. I guess when they don't have a fix, they call it a "characteristic".
