windshield trim problem

8374 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  PieceofHonda
On hot days, while driving at highway speeds, sometimes a loud buzzing noise comes from the dash area. I would have sworn it was the tach or speedometer but it turned out to be the rubber windshield moulding was loose on the drivers side A-piller. I snapped it back in but it continues to pop out in hot weather and vibrate in the wind creatng the buzzing noise. Anyone else heard of or had this problem?

the moulding comes attatched to the windshield from the manufacturer with a small bead of adhesive. it sounds like the adhesive has let go. go to a windshield replacement shop and ask them to urethane it down for you.

Hi Group

I was a bit shocked when my new 2002 Ody started buzzing on the freeway - lots of wind noise around the windshield and front of windows. The mechanic at our local dealer in minnesota had some good ideas - although it's mostly a design flaw according to him...

1) much of the noise may be coming from around the collapsible mirrors - he suggested trying some black electrical tape at the junction of the mirror and its base..
2) whistling from around the windshield may be minimized by installation of a bug screen (Honda or aftermarket) by creating a "windfoil" to direct air up and over the windshield more

Anyone tried either of these?
I've had a whistling tone twice, once before I installed a wind deflector and once after so I don't think that's the answer. Both times I heard the tone I was driving about 70 with a strong wind somewhere between the front and the side.
I think I may have the buzzing windshield problem. Purchsed my Ody in April of 03 new. Now that it is August in Las Vegas no less, I have some odd noises coming from the driver's side front. Almost sounds like I am driving on those grooves in the road to wake up drivers. I will take it to the dealer and have them fix whatever seal problems I have. Thank you for all of the posts and info.
