Windshield Washer fluid on REAR window when trying to spray FRONT?

Has anyone else had this happen? I pull the right hand stalk towards me (with the rear wiper OFF) to spray the front window, and get washer fluid (but no wiping motion) on the REAR window.

It was particularly cold last night, but I had just put a gallon of -40deg washer fluid in the van after work, so I am confused as to why the fluid would come out the rear. I guess it's possible that the fluid froze (it was only -15degC, about 0 degF, so it shouldn't have), but why would it come out the rear instead? I checked that the spray nozzles aren't blocked, but can't see or feel the tubes due to the design to see if they are frozen.

I parked the van facing the sun, so hopefully any frozen fluid will melt.

Any suggestions for defrosting frozen front wiper lines? I can't put the van in the garage (too much crap...).

Chris, I have heard of a commercial solution you can buy to almost instantly defrost your wipers from the window, but I also believe it's simply isopropyl alcohol mixed with water. I'm not sure of the percentage but the internet says 30 percent works. Alcohol has a very high affinity for water, frozen or otherwise. That mixer shouldn't have any effect on paint or plastic components. You could douse the sprinkler holes as well.

Hodna, thanks for the reply,

None of the wipers are stuck, but I do appreciate the idea of spraying the front nozzles.

I'm hoping that someone can explain why when attempting to spray on the front windshield, I got fluid on the rear window (without activating the rear wiper), and help fix the situation. Really, I'm not incompetent; I'm SURE that I was activating the front sprayer (front wipers activated), and they worked fine at 9:30pm last night (5 hours after adding the new fluid).
