Hey...my 1 month old '08 EX-L is having a problem with the XM Radio.

The reason I post this here before taking it to the dealer is that I wonder if I did something to cause this...I have been trying to figure out if it was possible to make the ch+/- buttons on the wheel scan through the channels sequentially instead of scanning through the presets.

I held down the button on the lower left side of the radio, and after I did that I started noticing the the radio would randomly change channels, by one channel number either up or down.

For instance, if we have it on 18, suddenly it will change to 20 (the next available station up). Later I had it on 5 and a few minutes later it changed to 4. I thought maybe I was hitting the channel +/- buttons on the wheel, but as I pointed out before those buttons page through the presets...these channels that the radio is changing to are not presets. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it possibly on a seek/scan mode?

I haven't experienced this but ran into another issue when trying out the Xm system.

On my 2008 EX-L with RES - I notice that if I change channels one click at a time sometimes it seems to lose its place and gets no reception, although the correct channel data is displayed in the screen, you don't hear anything from the station. To resolve the issue I just switch to a different mode and then back and it seems to reset some tracking mechanism.

Not sure if it is somehow related to the satelite positioning/tracking siteline issue.

Anyone lese run into the issue? Or can repro based on my description? This is my first experience with satelite radio so not sure if this is expected with satelite.

This looks to be a known issue on 07-08 Odys and there will probably be a TSB coming in the future.

I have been wondering the same thing - it would be so much nicer to be able to cycle through all of the channels, rather than just the 6 presets.

Anyone found a way to do this??

This has happened a few times in my 2009 touring. I'm driving and there are no obstructions whatsoever and the xm radio cuts out. I can see the station displayed on the screen but there is no sound. When I switch the stations sometimes you can hear something but it fades in and out. I think the cure is to turn off the power to the radio and turn it back on again. I fixed it like that one time. I'll try again next time this happens.

I had a similar problem. Sometimes if the XM cuts out, pressing that white, round button on the upper left, I forgot what it's for (we have the RES), restored the sound. Weird.
BTW, on another forum I was once on for a different brand car, everyone was complaining that pushing the channel button cycled through the channels and they wanted it to cycle through the presets.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Funny they don't make that a programmable thing so everyone will be happy...

I think after listening to XM for a while you'd figure out your favorite 12 channels and want to cycle through those. I sure don't want to cycle through all the channels on regular radio.

I HAD a problem where my XM in my 08 EX-L would not "remember" that it could get XM. It would only be able to tune into 20 or so channels instead of the 100 or so you're supposed to get. Well, after a zillion calls to XM and two service trips to Honda, I think it's straightened out. XM activated and deactivated my initial activation/subscription/dealer authorization at least once, AND activated and deactivated my radio trial subscription several times. I kept calling and they kept telling me I had a subscription and they'd just refresh it, or deactivate/reactivate, etc. It's been turned on for about a week without "forgetting" any channels, so I think it's been fixed and the problem was XM.

XM kept telling me the radio was defective, but I think it's just XM's poor service and their left hand not knowing what their right hand is doing.

I am having the "forgetting channels" problem with my Honda factory XM radio right now in my 2005 EX-L. When I called XM today they kept telling me to "tune to channel 1" so they could reset the radio. Problem is that is one of the channels that the radio has forgotten. I told them this repeatedly, but they were of no help.

How did you get this problem fixed? Does the dealer need to reset the radio?

BTW, this all happened after I upgraded to the best of sirius.....

Adding the best of sirius is a software patch that does not work with every xm radio. Some radios work fine and some have stopped working completely. The only solution is to have xm drop or remove the best of sirius, that should restore your radio.

2008 EXL XM problem

I have the XM reception problem described in the Tech Line Article ATS081204. Sometimes XM audio will desapear, sometimes it will be in and out. Display always works fine. Only XM reception is effected. I was lucky to catch it in the act and showed it to the Service Manager of my dealership. He is checking on it.
Does anybody hear about this "updated XM control unit" ETA?
Thanks,

Les

No TSB has been issued yet.....still waiting.

I am still experiencing this issue. I have also been able to correct it by power cycling the audio unit, so there is apparently no need to cycle the ignition switch.

I'm curious to see if others with the issue can correct it in the same manner.

I still have not yet seen a TSB to correct this issue by replacing the XM receiver with an updated unit.

I had the TSB applied yesterday. The new XM receiver has a different 8-digit radio ID than the old receiver.

You can find your new 8-digit XM radio ID by turning to channel 0.

So, in order to continue to have XM radio service, you will need to call XM and have them move your subscription over to the new receiver/radio ID.

Once they advise you, you will need to go to channel 1 and wait until the re-activation is done.

If your service is not activated, you will see channels 0, 1, and 247 only.
